When I first read this piece of news I was just laughing at the comparison done by the senior Israeli academic and director of the National Security Studies Center at the University of Haifa, Mr. Dan Shiftan, who made this harsh speech to his students in his course on Israel's security concept plan for diplomacy and security at Tel Aviv University.

One student left the course saying: "It's undignified and rude to speak in classes like this, this is not why I came to University". While some other students quoted his speech and here are some highlights of his words: "Arabs are the failure of humanity, Arabs are the biggest failure in the history of mankind, and there are no cracked people under the sun more than Palestinians", "in the Arab world they use guns to shoot in weddings to prove that they have at least one hard thing that can shoot and work correctly."!!
Dan Shiftan - who is one of the most influential academics of senior defense and political leaders in Israel - also said: "When Israel sends a sophisticated Satellite into space Arabs would be busy inventing a new type of Hummus"!!!

Back to the impact of such words, I really was laughing at the beginning while thinking "oh come on you must be kidding", but then I got shocked by futuristic vision based on a flash back of late Arabs history, so I was like: What if this man is right? is there any chance? well, lately the trend of Arabic people was much into food, marked in Genis book of world records to the biggest Hummus plate in history, getting addicted to silly TV series, imitating negative attitudes of the west side, silly songs and other crap. But on the other hand, Arab World also embrace genius and creative Arabic people who are making a difference in the whole world. for example we Jordanians are going through an advanced level when it comes to technology, and web industry, Yahoo's acquisition to Maktoob [as a Jordanian company] is one example. and our king is doing extreme efforts for the development of Jordan and Arab World.



but does the above mean that this is all what we care about? does it mean that Arabs would be really busy thinking of new types of hummus while Israel and other countries would be creating a new evolution in Satellites? does it mean that Arabs would be busy watching silly TV programs while other countries are inventing new weapons?

This is not the time to curse or blame the senior lecturer who said that harsh words, it's time to make a review of what we have been doing lately, we should forget about that really old history of arabs that we always rely on, like arabs invented algorithms, arabs were advanced in medicine, arabs invented decimal Zero and they are the pioneers in math. well this is all great but now it is really Old News, we should focus more on new tangible achievements to prove it to the world that Arabs are still there and doing great job in up-to-date needs.
