Why would you request the Government of Jordan to Suspend Diplomatic and Political relations with Israel and to close Embassies?
Posted on 12/29/2008 by Rani Dababneh
While the Israeli Attack is still on, destroying anything they face on the land of Gaza, killing children, women, and all kinds of civilians regardless their religion, nationality nor sex, destroying houses, organizations and all constructions! while the war is still on, the Arab world still insists on the need to suspend all diplomatic and political relations with Israel!!
Especially here in Jordan, where most of the people are requesting the government to kick the Israeli Ambassador out of Amman, and to request the Jordanian Ambassador to leave Israel back to Amman! even most of Parliament Members requested that while burning the Israeli Flag inside the Parliament House, in one weird unique activity that never happened before in the same place!

But the question here, is that all what we look for? is that the target that we look to achieve?! requesting such a thing from the government and especially by the Parliament Members should be based on a realistic impact of such activity! you should think of the benefits and drawbacks of any political decision you request.
Expelling the Israeli Ambassador out will have no real positive impact on Palestine nor Jordan, but it is becoming like some routine behavior that governments do to show their support for the intended attacked country, so if this is the only benefit you see then does Jordan need this decision to show their support for Palestine and Gaza? sure not, Jordan is maybe the only Arabic Country that you can't question its support for Palestine, as it has been supporting and negatively affected by any war occurring in Palestine since ever!
On the other Hand, suspending political relations with any country will even cause more tense and violence in region, and will act as another obstacle of achieving the optimum goal which is Peace in Middle East!
Meanwhile, I guess we should redirect our thoughts on how can we Practically help Gaza, for example by collecting food and medicine, praying for them and for Peace in Middle East, that will result in practical help for the poor people there! we should think how to solve and calm things down without putting any new obstacle in that Road of Peace which is already full of obstacles!
What are the Practical and Positive Actions you are Considering or Suggesting to help poor people in Gaza?!

8 Response to "Why would you request the Government of Jordan to Suspend Diplomatic and Political relations with Israel and to close Embassies?"
its just a show !! the governments are trying to make a show in front of their citizens ,you know, 2 say that we are not watching , we r doing sth but in the matter of fact they are just talking and talking in "meaningless" words which they dont understand aslan !!!
and as u said "Expelling the Israeli Ambassador out will have no real positive impact on Palestine nor Jordan" bs bdak meen yfham !!!
collecting food, medicine and blood is good but not enough.
its like watching a guy getting killed and then give him blood.
we need to take an action, what is it, i dont know but we should do someting!
maroo.. well its not about government here, it's mainly about people and Parliament Members! who are taking emotional actions only!
Jordanian Government is being a bit realistic and practical, collecting food, medicine and blood, then safely sending them to Gaza, which is great as somehow we have no other authority!
our beloved king, King Abdullah II, and Queen Rania made another good step to encourage all people by donating blood for injured Palestinians!
on the other hand and as a response for "anonymous", we are trying to support Gaza each by his authority and power, we hope to do the exact actions to reach the optimum goal: "Peace", but sometimes there are some political limits that we can't go beyond! involvement of outsiders or third parties may harm all parties, Each Country is responsible for its own internal policy and security is one example of the nonacceptance of third party involvement!
I agree with your post, except for the fact that we; as Jordanians, should be doing far more than any other country. not only do our people in Gaza need humanitarian help, they are in desperate need for justice before anything, fair &solid political grounds!that is what should be done! enforcing justice and the right to live, having the most basic needs, a LAND for God’s sake.
I am a very proud Palestinian-Jordanian; I must say, because honestly? I never thought people would respond positively to donations and other things that are being done.
On the other hand, what could we possibly do more? The country’s people have done and are still doing all it takes to provide humanitarian aid, it is now the country’s turn to give on a political level, it should start acting and using the international relations it has been building over the years to provide righteousness and a fair view on the current conditions.
And whoever says Arabs are asleep and aren’t doing anything to help, I disagree! It’s not all the Arabs, it’s a few, very few with unfortunately big and reputable names.. those are the ones who make us look bad.
"Each Country is responsible for its own internal policy and security " and what if none is done? what if none claimed responsibility?who's responsibility would it be?
i wonder what the humanitarian aid organizations are doing!
So ya, burn their ugly flag and spit on their faces, let them take our crap the way we were forced to take theirs.
am with the goverment 100% .. why should they not have peace between jordan and isreal .. they only did it for the sake of jordanians!! and maroo jordan did lots of things .. they donaited food, madical things, they took injured people to OUR hospitals . what should they do more? the answer is to DONATE MORE
This is a bit not clear for me. I do think that cutting the ties with Israel will stop the Aid from enetring Gaza as donations are coming from Lebanon, Syria thru the Hashemite donations commitee but someone told me that the UNHCR is the one that delivers the donations inside Gaza. Anyways, this is too late now as Israel has stopped Aid trucks from entering Gaza after the land icursion has started.
In my opinion, closing the Embassy here and suspending relations with Israel would only make things worse, for the Palestinians in Gaza who are depending on International donations coming through and for Jordan as well. One should not react on emotions, rather, be diplomatic. Diplomacy is hard, but it works!
Remember
Was not aware of such an action by governments in the Middle East till I read this. Closing embassies however is according to me just another eye wash.
