Star Academy! What Why Who the Hell watches it?

One of the things that really freaks me out is how much the Arabic People is attached and addicted to such Silly Program "Star Academy"!! It is really another indicator for the future of the community, how bad our life style is becoming, and one serious observation indicating that we are tracking the exact wrong path!!!
Star Academy (the Arabic version on LBC Lebanon) is becoming like the one and only concern for most of the layers of the Arabic People, starting with kids in streets ending with old people in fancy castles, and this is exactly what freaks me out; as I might understand the case of those silly kids and teens having no responsibilities in their lives, caring only about pure shallow issues competing to be the most silliest one in their friends with the most shallowest attitudes -I actually don't understand it but I might forgive them at this stage of their lives as they still don't know what they do and what are the impacts of their attitudes in their current and future life- but I totally don't understand the case of respected middle age adults or old people watching this Silly Program!
It is like they have solved all their life issues and got nothing to care about but the silly stories of a bunch of silly "teens" online 24/7 on Real TV all what they are trying to achieve is to bring more attention using all the wrong unethical ways regardless their own, family and country reputation!
Well I am not against singers or the singing competition, but I am against this Real TV thing in the Arab World as they really misuse it - remembering the big failure in the Arabic Big Brother experience - as it's observed lately that most of the arabic people and communities copy the worst and only the worst part of any good thing, attitude or program coming from the western side! so if you want to listen to some good songs then you can do that listening to some good respected ones or if you wanna see a competition based on the singing performance only and nothing else then you can watch Super Star for example (on Future TV) as it doesn't contain the silliness in Star Academy but it's based on competitors real voices only!
So, WAKE UP People Wake Up! there are really much serious things in your lives to track, improve and care about!
You complain the High Prices but you have no problem spending all your money on such silly program voting to the silliest shallowest person -NOT representing his country, family or even himself- to win!!

I think it is sometimes nice to watch the talent that actually comes from these shows. Although sometimes shows like these suck.
I also agree with you, one should vote for real talent. But I would say there are lot other things in the world to do.. apart from TV
all this money... wasted instead of giving it to a poor lebanese family
indeed, i watched it once and never again.
seems like you can't watch tv anymore without it being reality tv.
even here in thailand it's turning into the same thing, copycat versions of "are you smarter than a 5th grader" etc

sadly, most of us have nothing better to do. TV makes time go by, and most of use cannot stand to be bored. We are either watching Tv or we are wasting our money on stupid crap that doesn't really matter.
