المجالي: شارون خطط لاحتلال الأردن
ماجد توبة وفرح عطياتعمان - اعرب رئيس الوزراء الأسبق عبد السلام المجالي عن اعتقاده بأن رئيس الوزراء الإسرائيلي السابق ارييل شارون كان يخطط ويدفع في العام 2003 إلى التمهيد لاحتلال الأردن، مستغلا الحرب الأميركية على العراق، بهدف إقامة وطن بديل للشعب الفلسطيني، وبما يرحل أزمة إسرائيل.
ويعتقد المجالي في حوار موسع مع "الغد" أن شارون الذي تسلم الحكومة الإسرائيلية في العام 2002، وباعتباره عسكريا كان يدفع بالولايات المتحدة الأميركية لمهاجمة العراق (عام 2003) لعدة أسباب، من أهمها أنه كان يتوقع أن يقاوم الجيش العراقي على الأقل لمدة ستة أشهر، وتصور أن ذلك سينعكس على الوضع الداخلي في الأردن لتثور الأمور ويحدث الخلل، وأنه بهذا العذر سيلجأ إلى احتلال الأردن وإقامة دولة فلسطينية فيه.
ويرى المجالي أن مشكلة الإسرائيليين أنهم "يرغبون بالسلام، لكنهم في الوقت نفسه يريدون البقاء محتلين للأرض، وهذا ما لا يمكن تحقيقه...[Via Alghad Newspaper]
While I was regularly walking through the newspaper I got really shocked reading the headline of this article in Alghad Newspaper!!
This Article by Mr. Al Majali is claiming that Sharon was planning to attack and conquer Jordan during the war on Iraq!! to create a substitute homeland for the Palestinians!
I don't know if this could be real, like a real fact, or it's just like assumptions and political analysis based on the whole mysterious situation in the Middle East!
But all what I know is that Jordan is Stronger than any Attack, not only because we have strong army - who stopped Israel in 1968 in Al Karameh (معركة الكرامة) - but also because we have a strong policy represented by all our Hashemite Kings at all times.
May God Bless Jordan, we are all Proud to be Jordanians, and we are in love with our country Jordan the safest country in the region though we are surrounded with all middle east wars.

Sorry to tell you this, but I remeber when I was in the University of Jordan, in the late ninitees...
I took the optional course, military science علوم عسكرية and there was a lecture on Military Intelligence إستخبارات عسكريةand the lecturer who is a high ranking official from the JORDANIAN ARMY said:
"We can stand against the Israeli Airforce for 72 hours" and he was proud of it... 72 hours, after that we will be unable to fight against the Israeli airforce... Israel would probably consider this option, it's certainly not in their own interest they can hardly handle their own secuirity as it is... but it's not that hard to topple our army...
the strength of any nation is not in it's army... it is in it's people... now think again and ask yourself... who will be fighting in the streets of Amman against an invading army?!?
well, man its already known that the army of Israel and USA are the strongest because of many factors that are not part of the discussion here, so thats why i said not only because we have a strong army that could stop Israel once, but it's because we have a STRONG POLICY that avoids any fight with any country, we have a royal policy that forces every country to respect us and to keep their peace promises with us!
and maybe you don't know all the layers or levels of Jordanian People, but we have real men here that will die for their beloved country!
1968 is different from 2008,
over these years the Israeli army has adavcned way more than any Arab army, except for Iraq.

Hmmmm! didn't those 'real men' lose in 1948 then in 1967? Oh I get it. As long as we "divest" from land we lost to the enemy, we have not really lost anything. right?
if we lost then we wouldn't be the safest country in region, Jordanian army can't be responsible to give freedom to the whole middle east! we r a small country with REAL MEN and BIG THOUGHTS that is trying to survive in the most dangerous region in this world!
anyways, am not saying the reason is only the army, again and again the reason is the STRONG POLICY we have that is making us survive through all the problems occurring in the Middle East!

- man, you are so naive. what safety? hundreds of Jordanians get slaughtered on Jordanian roads every year. and what about Tunis? Libya? Gulf? Morocco? those countries are safe too.
but more importantly, Russia under Stalin was safe. Norh Korea is safe. is that a good thing?
safety without progress and freedoms is repression.

and those countries ur talkin abt r safe maybe but they are not surrounded with the ongoing wars Israel-Palestine, USA-Iraq, and the Iran-Syria and Lebanon thing.

what am talkin here are facts known everywhere in this world!
anyways its up to any1 to confess what the country he is living in since ever is giving him or to deny it! but denying it doesn't mean it doesn't exist!
i would rather to end the discussion here cuz this is not the purpose of this post!
the reason jordan is safe because those who live in jordan are peaceful people. not becuse "we have real men here that will die for their beloved country!" remember there are people who are willing to die for their beliefs too. and not even the American military or NATO can stop them (iraq and Afghanistan).
bottom line, your chest-beating has little truth in reality. the day the regime abandons its non-violent approach to security that will be the day you say bye bye to Jordanian stability.
and if you think for a moment that any army or intellegnce can stop up to a man who is ready to give his life for his cause, you need to look at Iraq.
so be humble and be realistic. if there is one thing we can teach other countries is that violence is not the best state security policy. that's one of Jordan's best security assets.
i am realistic n thats what ive talkin abt from the 1st moment, i said its not mainly because of the army but because of our STRONG POLICY! i said that many times! our policy avoids fights and against violence! so finally we reach a point of understanding :)
